The 8-second door rule

You have eight seconds before the homeowner mentally closes the door. Wasting them on "How are you today?" is how amateurs get smoked.

The 4-line opener

Line 1 — Permission + pattern interrupt:

"Hey, I know you weren't expecting me — quick reason I'm here?"

Line 2 — Reason + neighborhood proof:

"We're treating the [Smith / corner blue house / next street over] today and I had two open spots."

Line 3 — Specific bug = local credibility:

"Mosquitoes have been bad this season because of the rain — you noticed any?"

Line 4 — Soft close:

"Want me to throw your house on the route while we're already out here?"

Handling "we already have a guy"

"Totally — most of the houses on this street do. Real quick, are they spraying the eaves and the perimeter, or just the lawn? That's where 80% of the issue starts."

You're not attacking their guy. You're educating. Now they're listening.
