D2D is a skill, not a personality

The myth: you have to be an extrovert. The reality: D2D is a sequence — approach, pitch, qualify, close, follow up. Each piece is trainable.

The 4-second approach

You have 4 seconds before the door closes. Win them with:

  • Posture — back off the door, body angled.
  • Tone — neighborly, not salesy.
  • Reason — "I'm working on [house two doors down] and noticed [specific thing]."

The top 5 D2D objections

1. "Not interested" → acknowledge, redirect to curiosity.

2. "I'm busy" → "Totally — 20 seconds and I'm out of your hair."

3. "Send me info" → "I'd rather not waste your inbox. One question?"

4. "I need to talk to my spouse" → set a 2-call close.

5. "We already have someone" → "Smart. Mind if I ask what they're charging?"
