The reframe in your head. Old voice: "Another no. I suck." New voice: "+1 toward my next yes. $417 deposited." This isn't motivational fluff — it's an arithmetic re-anchoring of what just happened.
How to install it this week.
- Pull last quarter's data. How many calls per close? Per opportunity? Compute the per-call value.
- Write the number on a sticky note on your monitor. "Each call = $417."
- After each call, log it. A simple Y/N tally. Watching the count climb gives the brain a counter to push instead of a wound to lick.
- Celebrate the counter, not the outcome. Hit your daily call goal? That's the win. The yeses are a lagging output of the counter.
Why this works. Your brain is wired to need progress signals. Without them, every no is the ending. With them, every no is a chapter — and you know how the book ends.
The pro version. Track quality nos vs junk nos. A no after a 20-min discovery teaches you something. A no on dial 1 teaches you nothing except to keep dialing. Your real ratio is qualified-conversation-to-close, not dials-to-close.
